Now then..Anyone remember The BobSlay (It was spelt wrong!!), Ben Hur or The Speed Boats?

Hi Gary,
I can remember the "Rock O Bob" or something like that and can definately remember the Ben Hur ride, which I have to say was one of the most pointless rides Huss have ever made!! I worked in that area of the park for a little while and can also remember the Flying Carpet and Orbiter. Heres one for you, can anyone remember the Mississipee Showboat attraction that was also based in that area? I thought that was quite good at the time.

The city has had its fair share of boom and bust. Images of crime-filled streets and the homeless wandering the streets in droves has previously made it a perfect spot for filming the hit TV series Miami Vice.

| Also just a quickie for Ash, remember when you played that prank posting a link on here for that site where it was stating "valhalla is being removed" ? Can you tell me the difference between that, and the ride ops of Rollercoaster playing a prank? None whatsoever. Of which I cant understand why you would be peeved at the ride ops when your as bad yourself !! |
Hang on a minute, my prank was aimed at a handfull of people, some fell for it, others didn’t. It was ment to be contianed on here (otherwise I’d of copied it to other forums) however others decided to drag it elsewhere on the net before I had chance to lock it, which I did stright away, after admitting it was a joke.
You’ll also notice that forums with which I have membership, I claimed responsiblity for it and admitted it was a joke.
As I have said (what seems to be several thousand times now) it was not the op’s of RollerCoaster who played this ‘prank’ it was almost every op who I spoke to!
Further more, CPB held a ’symbolic’ ERT on the RollerCoaster….and thr chairman of the club (who gets to find out the facts, and is very good at keeping his trap shut when he is told to) was spotted on the Revolution staircase taking several photo’s of the ride during the last hour of the park’s operation. That could be coinsidence, but for the ride op’s to take things to the extent of having the entire train load believe they are/were its last ever riders (not to mention asking for pictures to be taken and posted on the net) is going a bit far, and to tell little kids the news they’ve missed the last ever ride (and have them in tears) is a little bit more than a prank played between a few mates on the internet, wouldn’t you say?
Lastly, who said I was ‘peeved’? I can remember a few weeks ago saying something along the lines off I’ll take my hat off to PBB if it is a joke, they pulled it off very well (I cant be bothered looking for the quote, its out there, look for it if you have nothing better to do!) I also said I would love to be proved wrong about this, so come on then Scott, PROVE ME WRONG, I want you to!

The worst ride to break down on.
Author: FallenAbyss
Posted: Today - 12:12 am
I broke down before the final drop on Valhalla with a few of the guiders earlier in the year, we were on the actual corner before the drop as another boat was in front of us, we waited for ages, as I believe we were one of the last boats to be evacuated and water was coming over the sides we actually had to push the boat upright to stop it.
Eventually we were rescued and it’s quite tricky to actually get out of the boats and onto the walkways, we walked through a couple of scenes and then out down some stairs to safety where we were told we could reride without queing to get twice as wet …. a pretty cool evac if you ask me but would be a bugger if you had really short legs !! lol

Well I still think it’s a shame it wont be open for winter weekends however needs must, and it’s probably better that they spend the extra time over this winter to hopefully restore normal operation as 2008 has been a pretty poor year for it.
I agree with ash … it’s certainly a shadow of its former self at the moment, however I really cant see them fixing it to run how it used to …. but a more reliable ride would certainly be an improvement !!

The topic was started, because I thought it would cause interesting debate, and it certainly has.
I am not going to lock it, because whats the point of that? But please, if you have nothing else to add to the debate, dont bother posting in here, only post if you think it’ll help the debate of the topic.
Cheers.
Have you ever fancied working at the Pleasurebeach?
Author: Bicko

Hmm, would I ever work at a theme/amusement park again?
After spending 16 months working at Alton Towers, I am not totally sure if I would want to work on rides again, dont get me wrong, its a great experience, but it has its bad stuff too, believe me!
Advantages;
Interaction with guests is amazing when they are friendly. There is nothing better than seeing a family having a good time, especially when they are nice people and want to make conversation.
Working on rides is a great experience, knowing EVERY detail about the ride, doing things no guest could know about. I still know so much about the Flume & RMT at towers, just because its drilled into me from being signed off on those rides.
Breakdowns!!! Yes, they can be an advantage, because if the day is dragging, then it helps break it up a bit. There was nothing better than seeing the Flume’s hour queue all turning back in the event of a breakdown, from 60 mins to 0 mins, within two announcements being played.
Hmm, if you have a genuine interest for rides, you may enjoy working on them. I was always told by people I would hate working on rides, but thats so wrong, I really enjoyed it, sometimes it was a bit crap, for example I was doing 6 days in a row during June & July at towers, and somedays I would be stuck on RMT for 4 days in a row, and you do go onto auto pilot! But, if you have variety, its great.
Disadvantages:
Annoying guests, many examples.
1. Ride close is 6pm. You close the queueline at 6:15pm, and some joker comes shouting in your face, I want to ride this NOW!!! Erm sorry, were closed. They normally reply with, well we’ve waited ALL day to ride it, so the answer is, why did you wait 15 minutes after ride close, before deciding to go on it?
2. When you get a breakdown, you’ll always get some cocky chav asking annoying questions.
3. Chavvy families or teens generally being annoying.
Finally, the opening hours can be a drag.
I’ve rambled on for long enough, but thats just some of my experience from working on rides, something I couldnt of posted when I was under a towers contract.
So, to your question, would I work at PBB?? Its a tough one, but if I lived in Blackpool, and was given the chance to work on PMBO for a week, I probably wouldnt turn it down, just so I can experience working on my favourite ride. I always wanted the chance to work on Nemesis at towers, but was never given the chance!

| Thanks for the report.
I am so glad I didnt go today after reading that, I’d of been frustrated at not being able to do many rides again.
I’ll be there tommorow and hopefully it wont be too busy! |
I hope you have a good day Scott
Perhaps it may end up being dry, but dull? The main thing is to get there when it opens and try and ride the rides which tend to attract the biggest queues first of all. Thats my theory, but it’s usually Bumper Cars first anyway
Your Review Of The 2008 Park Season!

early season stated for my family at loudoun castle at the easter holidays it was absolutely baltic but a good out and the park was really busy.2nd trip was to grangemouths zetland parks 1 pound a ride night, absolutely heaving all night and great value for money.3rd trip was to m&ds strathclyde park,it wasnt very busy and i was surprised to see how run down and uncared for the park is getting(a painter is badly required for all the steel coaster).4th trip was back to loudoun castle at the end of the summer school holidays, the credit crunch was starting to bite and the park was noticably quiet but we all managed a good ride count as there were little queues.5th trip was end of season trip to bpb during the scottish october school week which was not the best of weather tues was heavy rain, wed was intermitent rain so we plumped for thursday which although sunny was cold and we were surprised how quiet the park was,no avalanche, ark or space invader, and breakdowns galore. We made the most of it but left feeling a little dissapointed that the scottish buisness doesnt seem to mean as much as it used to.Still not the end of season though as im hoping to go to edinburgh for the xmas celebrations and funfair in the next few weeks.Well this sums up a mixed season, what about everybody else!!!!
